Nigerian government to enpower youths.

The Federal Government entrepreneurship and jobs creation initiative Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria, popularly known as YouWiN! has extended the age limit for candidates to age 40. The reason, according to Dr. Olasupo Olusi, Special Assistant to the Coordinating Minister of the Economy & YouWiN! Project Coordinator, is so that more young Nigerians can have the benefit of showcasing their business acumen at the business competition and thereby access the funds that would help take their businesses higher.

According to Dr. Olusi, the YouWin! Secretariat has been besieged by calls and emails since the inception of the competition from young Nigerians who couldn’t make the initially advertised cut of age 35. ‘So seeing as we actually have more “on-the-ground” business men in that age bracket’, he explained, ‘the government has decided to lift the bar to allow the entry of 40 year olds and under’.

Elaborating further, he said ‘Government believes that the wealth of experience that the under 40s have will help make the competition even keener’. He was quick to stress, however that age would not be a factor in deciding who gets the prizes eventually. ‘This is a competition of ideas. Our job is to see that at the end of the day, the best and most innovative ideas come tops, and for us to help support those ideas and their backers so that they can make good success in Nigeria’s business terrain’.

The elated Project Coordinator revealed that going by the submissions that have come in so far, it is obvious that Nigeria is brimming with business talents who, if encouraged and given adequate support can help propel Nigeria’s economy to much greater heights through value creation and the opening of opportunities to other young Nigerians.

D'banj and Buari in hot romance?

From Stella Dimoko Korkus' page in Encomium magazine:
The crooner is currently in a hush hush romance with Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari. The actress was spotted a fortnight ago, precisely on Friday and Saturday,October 14th and 15th 2011 at the crooner’s house where she spent the weekend and paraded herself in a sexy night attire.
Other sources also confirm that the two have been an item long before now and have been spotted many times together in Ghana as well.
I know for sure Nadia dated Republic of Congo musician, Fally Ipupa...this one I'm not 100% sure...though I heard from a very reliable source that it's true.

Two News editors of the Nation Newspaper were arrested yesterday..

Two News editors of the nation Newspaper were arrested yesterday at the Matori Office. It is believed to be connected with the Oct 4th Story titled, "Obasanjo's Secret letter".

.... Where is the Freedom of speech?
 FULL STORY..
FOUR senior editors with the Vintage Press Limited, publishers of The Nation were on Tuesday arrested by security operatives from the Force CID, Alagbon, Lagos.
Nine detectives, led by Mr. Emma Ogolo came in two vehicles (a white-colour Rover Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), marked PFN 357 B and a blue-colour Peugeot 504 Salon car, marked 2413 B).
A statement by the General Editor, Mr. Kunle Fagbemi said, “The Nigeria Police Force, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit” was inscribed on the sides of the SUV.
Three of the detectives entered the premises of the company on 27B, Fatai Atere Way, Matori, Mushin, while the two vehicles parked outside the gate had three men waiting in them.
In each of the waiting vehicles were; an armed policeman, a plain cloth security operative and the driver.
They asked to see the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Victor Ifijeh and the Editor, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso. They were not in the office when the officers called at about 2pm.
The Deputy Editor, Mr. Lawal Ogienagbon, who attended to them, was arrested alongside the News Editor of the newspaper’s weekend titles, Mr. Dapo Olufade. Ogienagbon has been flown to Abuja.
The Managing Editor in charge of Northern Operations, Yusuf Alli, and the Bureau Chief, Mr. Yomi Odunuga, had earlier been picked up at the Abuja office of the newspaper and are being detained at the Force Headquarters.
Olufade was taken after the officers could not find any of the other four senior editors they were looking for, among whom were: the General Editor, Mr. Kunle Fagbemi, Managing Editor, Waheed Odusile, the Deputy Editor, News, Mr. Adesina Adeniyi, and Group Political Editor, Bolade Omonijo.
The company’s lawyer, Mr. John Unachukwu, the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Mr. Jide Adegbenjo and the Labour Correspondent, Mrs. Dupe Olaoye Oshinkolu also went with them. By press time, Olufade and Oshinkolu were still being detained in Lagos.
The police invasion, apparently meant to decapitate the paper’s leadership and disrupt production of the Wednesday edition, paralysed work at the newspaper house for many hours and unsettled staff.
Though the team did not disclose the contents of their Warrant, it is believed that it was not unconnected with the October 4 cover story of The Nation, entitled “Obasanjo’s ‘secret’ letter to Jonathan stirs anger. Ex-President seeks sack of PTDF chief, four others.”
The former President had in a chat with aviation reporters the following day, denied the authorship of such letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, threatening legal action against the newspaper. But The Nation stood by its story.
